Crown lifting is the removal of all lower branches either in their entire length or in part only. The work may be required to:
a. Allow access under the tree - sometimes to comply with highway clearance requirements
b. To increase light levels under the tree for the growth of other plants
c. For aesthetic reasons - to remove eye level screen
